Child Seat BeltsIf you are going to carry children there are rules that should be followed to ensure they travel safely:
Period Style Chrome seat belt buckles do not work very well with Child seats, Booster seats and Booster cushions because the seats were designed for use with modern buckles. If you want chrome buckles, this is still possible as we offer a combination that will allow you to carry your children safely in their seat of booster using a modern buckle. However when you arrive at your destination or you are carrying adults only, you drop the modern buckle out of site and use the period chrome buckles when required. We do this by fitting both modern and period tongues to the seat belt and supply both buckle types.
Children under the age of 12 or under 1.35 metres in height must use a suitable child restraint. This can be a problem with some vehicles where space is limited by either width or height and it could be argued in some cases that the child would be safer without the aid of a booster seat or cushion. For more information on this subject please call our helpline.
For some occasions a full harness will be more appropriate for a child than an adult seat belt. We produce full harnesses suitable for children from approximately 4 years of age through to adult. All children’s harnesses are of the same or similar design to standard adult racing harnesses but of a scale suitable for children.
